INTENDED AUDIENCE – Designed for primary care
practitioners, including those in Family Medicine, Internal
Medicine, and General Practice, as well as pediatricians,
hospitalists, and other specialists seeking clinically relevant
updates in emergency medicine and infectious diseases.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES –
Recommend immunizations indicated for different
risk groups such as health care providers, college
students and inhabitants of long -term care
facilities.
Determine the major tick vectors in the United
States and their associated diseases.
Treat common travel-related maladies such as
traveler’s diarrhea, motion sickness, altitude illness
Develop a differential diagnosis and approach to
the common STD syndromes: urethritis, genital
ulcers, vaginitis
Determine the difference between suicide
screening and suicide risk assessment
Develop strategies to evaluate and treat
anaphylaxis, poisoning, cold and heat problems,
burns, bites and stings.
